pen- pals letters exchange with Fulneck School, in Pudsey (west yorkshire, uk)
This school- year we start at IES Consaburum a pen- pals exchange between the Department of English of IES Consaburum and the Department of Spanish Language of Fulneck School, in Pudsey. Students from 11 to 15 years old will have the opportunity of exchanging letters with their mates in UK, and hopefully, it will lead to future onsite exchanges of students between both schools. Christmas is round the corner and we have received the first letters of our penpals in which they describe themselves, share their interests and relevant aspects of their daily life. This initiative is an example of friendship and understanding between cultures, something quite remarkable in the current days of Brexit and division.
Fulneck School is an independent day and boarding school, situated in Pudsey, West Yorkshire, England. It provides education for pupils between the ages of 3 and 18. The boys' and girls' schools were opened by the Moravian Church in 1753 and 1755 respectively. When Fulneck first opened, the pupils would sleep at the top of the church. Now the school has boarding facilities for both girls and boys, which are located on the upper floors of the main school building.
Fulneck School has a Learning Support Unit which means it has a designated unit for the teaching of pupils with dyslexia on a one-to-one or small-group basis. It is also a non-selective school with an inclusive admissions policy. Children of all academic abilities are stretched, challenged and supported, with high achievers gaining A* and A grades. The majority of students in the Sixth Form go on to study at university while some enter apprenticeships and employment. Click the image of the school below and have a look at its website.
