Last Transnational Meeting
#ErasmusPlusEs changing lives. Our second prize for talking part Consuegra’s Carnival parade has been donated to gruppo di volontariato solidarietà . Flora joined us today to explain how they struggle to help orphan children from Ukraine, Poland, Bulgary and Burundi to find an Italian family. They’re gonna use the prize to buy vaccines for children in Africa @gruppodivolontariatosolidarieta

8 a.m. -11.30 a.m. Visit to Vieremä municipality half an hour’s dribve from Iisalmi. Guioded visit there in global Ponsse forest machine factory. Presentation and factory tour.
3 p.m. Cooking Finnish food at school, in the home economics classes, international mixed groups of students. Karelian pies, salad, berry kisel. Eating together, enjoying the self-made food.
5 p.m. The closing ceremony. The headmaster handed out the certificates to participants. Delivering some small gifts to teachers to take home

8 a.m. Video presentations and power point shows of the participants of ”The best volunteer of my hometown” The Finnish pupils had made a video of Tomi Tajakka who is a singer in a Finnish band touring a lot in Europe. Tomi lives in IIsami, his home town, and makes voluntary work in the field of music for yougsters.
9.30 a.m. Seminar of being a EU citizen. Also a group of pupils of the upper secondary came to listen. International coordinator Maija Jeskanen from Metsäkartano told about the EVS European Voluntary Service (European Solidarity corps) and possibilities to go abroad. Two volunteers Jean and Dani from France told about their experiences in Finland. What are the challenges and benefits of EVS.
Project worker Leena Mulari who works for Iisalmi city and looks for possibilities for assiciations and clubs to become more international. She showed a video of two young women ( participants of two Upper Savo youth councils) who had been in Poland in a youth meeting recently.
Petri Karhu, manager of the Youth Work Shop and Iisalmi Youth Association told about the association and what does it do. He used a lot of pictures in presenting the actions.
Visit on a family dairy farm in Kirma village, cow farm since XVI century. The owner and farmer told about farming and the work on an Upper Savo farm. Seeing cows was of interest. There was also the managing director of ProAgria who told more about agriculture in Finland and Savo area
Reunited at last in Finland. Almost three years later and several Erasmus+ projects in between. Hard work, dreams, challenges and loads of learning. Thank you, girls, for helping me grow. Meeting you in Oxford was providential

9 a.m. -11.45 Making of the project final Memory book.
11.45 a.m. School lunch
12.15 – 1.45 p.m. Sport game played around the city with an online app, a Geo catching app . You use mobiles and try to answer the questions you find in different spots of the city. The game is social because you move in small international mixed teams of students.
2 p.m. Visit to the volunteering place of Juhani Aho project pupils. It is Ilvolanpirtti, home and meeting centre of old age people situated just in the neighborhood of Juhani Aho school. Welcoming music. Coffee, tea and juice and snacks. Introducing the home by the project companion working in Ilvolanpirtti, Marjut Pääkkönen. Finnish pupils in pairs told what they had done with their old aged friend during the two years’ visits and meetings. There has been also gatherings with all the aged friends living in Ilvolanpirtti and the pupils and teachers taking part in the project. There have been gatherings two times in autumn and two times in spring term. Some snacks and discussion about different topics. Old people have told about their childhood and youth in these common meetings. Also the visitors told what kind of voluntary work they have carried on in the project. This was translated into Finnish for the aged Ilvolanpirtti residents. Some of the problems in Finland the isolation , loneliness and laziness among students because they don’t have to fight for a living. The government will cover their needs
We visited Koljonvirta Manor. A walk in historical sights of Koljonvirta dating back to Finnish war in 1808-1809. Playing mölkky outside in the court yard. Mölkky is a physical game, you use and throw wooden sticks and the students played it in mixed groups .
Day three in Iisalmi (Finland) Home economics: household as homework for students, why not in Spain as well? Learning to be independent and self-sufficient. It is compulsory for 7th grader and Opcional in 8th and they have it three times per week

8 a.m. Introducing the Finnish educational system by the headmaster and career guidance councellor (power point). Some questions and discussion e.g. drop-outs.
9 a.m. -10 a.m. Studying and working up the Finnish-English dictionary by the English teachers.
10 a.m. – 11.45 a.m. Visiting classes with different school subjects e.g. English, handicraft, home economics.
11.45-12.15 School lunch
12.30 p.m. – 1.45 p.m. Visiting the local town library. The guests left some books from their home country in the collection to be lent by Iisalmi citizens. The present was … the library and cultural boss Sanna Marin-Kainulainen.
2 p.m. -3 p.m. Visiting the city hall. Official welcome by the mayor of Iisalmi. He showed a power point of the central facts on Iisalmi and Upper Savo region. Presents of the visitors to the mayor.

8 a.m. Official welcome at school. Dance performance in festival/sports hall, headmaster Jouni Määttänen’s welcoming speech. Music in music class. Guided round tour in the school building and in the adjoining building called Majakka.
9.15 a.m. Guided round tour in the city of Iisalmi by bus. During the tour a stop and visit in the Gustav Adolph Church from 1779.
11 a.m. Visit in Kauppis-Heikki School (primary/elementary school, grades 1-6) in Peltosalmi, 8 km from the centre. The school building was completed in 2016. New wooden timber architecture. Guided tour by the headmaster and one of the class teachers. Everybody was impressed. We had school lunch in Kauppis-Heikki school
12.15- 2 p.m. Sport activities outside the school led by PE teacher Jari Hiltunen.
2 p.m. Visit to the Genelec company which produces loudspeakers and audio monitors. Guided round tour in the factory premises in two parts. We could see some animated cartoons in the Genelec theatre with the best sound system in the world.

Johani Haho School is a secondary school and has three Counsellors career guidances, from seven to nine grade. Each classroom spends 1 hour per week with the counsellor , and they have no tutors . Apart from the weekly lessons, each of them is also in charge of the counselling of several groups, apart from individual sessions with their students, and families. They do in 9th grade job shadowing week and Tellervo prepared a small dossier for the students to fulfill. Also students have to find information about the University, Vocational Education Grades, professions and jobs ,etc. The Counsellor is also in charge of the developing of useful skills for being more successful as a student and a bit of sell-knowledge to find out the abilities of the students . The school also has a psychologist in charge of test the students to spot learning difficulties. In primary school there is just psychologists, not counsellors . There is an association of Career Guidance Counsellors in town. Schools also have Social workers as a permanent position with whom students spend some time out when the show ill behavior . This time is also good for working with the students some vocational education. The school receives one per moth the visit of a doctor and some days per week the are atended by a nurse.

Inmigración Estonia, Rusia, Ucrania ,In Finland there are in the Town Hall a local civil servant in charge of all the schools in town , which is the boss of all the headmasters. In Finland , the primary and secondary school could be both united in a Gymnasiums and the upper secondary schools separately, in which students can be prepared for the university for three years. And there are also vocational education schools that begin after year nine( after basic education, after 16 years old)
